Hello! I am Samantha, your acupuncturist and massage therapist! I received a Masters of Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine from American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, San Francisco. While completing my masters, I became a certified massage therapist and gained additional certification in tui na. I am currently enrolled in the Doctoral Program at ACTCM. My areas of focus are orthopedics and gynecology.
I have loved competing in trail runs, triathlons, and equestrian sports. Currently, I am competing in aquabike for the 2017 season (swim and bike portion of a triathlon) and having a great time! In graduate school while competing, I suffered some common sports injuries and was treated at the student clinic. It blew me away at how drastically the pain was reduced and how the healing time was nearly cut in half. This was one of many moments I had in school where I feel deeply in love with the medicine. I witnessed phenomenal results while interning at CPMC Stroke Clinic. Acupuncture helped those recovering from stroke, traumatic brain injury, and other debilitating pathologies manage their pain and regain motor skills.
A beloved friend/mentor of mine always told me, “Prevention is cheaper than the cure.” I takes this to heart in educating and treating my patients. I have worked on hundreds of clients over the years with massage. I helped them work thru injury and avoiding invasive cortisone shots, pain medications, and surgery. After gaining my acupuncture license, I can now help more with complicated pathologies and get better and quicker results.
My goal is to help patients avoid surgery and get off of pain medications that may be harming them. It is very important to me that patients go the least invasive root before resorting to medication and surgery. I am a believer in integrative medicine and find that many in the western medical community are very open to eastern medicine. Any good physician wants the best for their patient and of course to first do no harm.
